Have you Googled the term dandruff lately? Or scalp dermatitis? Or any of the other tens if not hundreds of words used to describe scalp issues? (If you want to bypass all this and go straight to the solution then click here.)
Otherwise, read on..
I have and there are LOADS. And listen, it’s depressing spending your time online looking for “scalp bumps.” There is certainly no shortage of advice online with regards to scalp remedies. Generally the advice falls into two camps:
- Major companies that try to sell you shampoo for generic scalp conditions . Like somehow you just missed these, I guess. Maybe they think you’ve never been down that isle at the grocery store…
- Home remedies – These I do get behind, but to a certain point. And of these I’m going to tell you a couple that actually have worked for me in the past.
Dry Scalp Home Remedies – Two Trains of Thought:
1. Apple Cider Vinegar
Yup, right from the grocery store. It kills bacteria, while also helping heal the scalp itch. The recipe you’ll see most often:
Mix together 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar and 3/4 cup warm water in a bottle/bowl. Get in the bath/shower and pour over your scalp and massage in. Let it sit for at least 5-10 minutes (longer is usually better) and then rinse out.
This works, too, by the way. However, your head smells like you just finished coloring Easter Eggs for a week.
2. Aloe Vera
You can get Aloe Vera gel or rinse at places like Whole Foods. Depending on the instructions, you pour onto your hair and leave it on your scalp for 5-10 minutes and then rinse. You can do this daily and it somehow also conditions your hair. Bonus.
You might have luck with this one. I did for awhile but I couldn’t get my solutions to last. I wound up going back to regular tar shampoo after this. Honestly, it annoyed me that I had to use something called “tar shampoo.”
Ultimately, I needed to find a program that I could follow that was one thought. It wouldn’t be a collection of different ideas I’d glommed just from googling, “scratching scalp” or whatever struck me at that time to look up. ONE person’s research and conclusions put together.
I needed to find a guru!
I didn’t want to pay to go to a dermatologist, but I was willing to part with a little money as I wanted to stop buying all the shampoos. And by the way, if you think you might have something a little different, like a scalp fungus or something then it’s certainly worth it to get it checked out by a doctor.
Well, it turns out there’s a guru for everything. And they wrote an ebook on the subject of treatments for dry scalp. Several, too, and ones that have been published as well.
C’mon, an ebook?
Yup, and that worked best for me as I didn’t want to go to the bookstore and be standing at the counter purchasing “Itchy Scalp Causes and Treatment” or something like that. Plus, I wanted it now and I didn’t want to wait for Amazon. You can get them instantly and they come with very good money-back guarantees.
Alright, no more suspense, here she is and here’s what worked for me. Her name’s Mia Wadsworth and her ebook is “No More Dry Scalp.”
You don’t have to buy anything but just take a look at her site and intro video:
